Welcome to Central Independent School District. This is my tenth year serving as superintendent of the District. We have three campuses with an enrollment of 1,525 students and 225 staff members.
Central Independent School District has experienced strong academic growth over the last several years, moving from an “Acceptable” to a “Recognized” district. During that time, Central Elementary earned the “Exemplary” rating for three consecutive years. Central ISD has received the “Met Standard” rating since the inception of the new accountability system in 2013. Also, we believe in developing a college going culture and workforce readiness skills that better prepare students for the future job market. Students attending Central High School are provided with Google Chromebooks to give them access to the latest technology tools. Central ISD partners with Angelina College and Stephen F. Austin State University in preparing students for college and the workforce. The District pays tuition for all students taking college dual credit courses at Angelina College.
Conservative financial leadership has been reflected in the management practices of the District. We have earned the highest financial rating of “Superior Achievement” on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas for many years. In addition, the District has made substantial investments toward facilities by passing a $12 million dollar bond issue that allowed us to build a new elementary campus, as well as renovating the secondary campuses.
As you can see, we continue to focus on improving student achievement and district operations. However, our primary purpose is to prepare our students to graduate and become productive citizens. Ultimately, what really sets our schools apart is our desire to build positive relationships making sure every child knows they are valued and cared for. Our pledge is to give our best effort, working hard to ensure that Central ISD is a great place for kids to learn and grow.
